Leatherette is the most practical cover we make and the one with the widest choice of colour. The board is wrapped in a smooth matte material that does not catch the light and wipes clean with a damp cloth. Twenty-five active colours cover both a restrained wedding palette and a bright book for a child.
How leatherette differs from velour and fabric
Velour is soft and velvety, holds deep colour, and is the only material we engrave. Fabric gives a matte woven texture, quiet and restrained, but it takes up moisture more readily. Leatherette sits between them: it keeps its shape, does not collect fingerprints, survives frequent handling and offers almost twice the colour range of velour.
Who it suits
People choose it when the book will be leafed through many times by many hands. A wedding book shown to guests, a chronicle of a child first year, a corporate gift in a brand colour — in all of these the cover has to still look right six months later. If you need an exact shade to match the invitations or the room it will live in, this is where you are most likely to find it.
Twenty-five colours
The palette opens with white, beige and sand, then moves through peach, gold, yellow, ginger and terracotta. The red group gives soft pink, fuchsia, deep red, cherry, marsala and dark burgundy. Brown stands on its own as the calmest of the warm tones. The cool half runs to navy, bright azure, turquoise in two shades, olive, dark green, bright and dark violet, closing with graphite and black. Exact shades are visible in the editor at the cover step.
What is inside
The block is the same in all our photo books: photo-lab printing on matte Fujicolor Crystal Archive at 265 gsm rated beyond a hundred years, bonded without a gutter, opening flat at 180 degrees. Six to fifty pages, formats from 20×20 to 30×30 cm, assembled by hand on 2 mm board.
Frequently asked questions
Can names go on the cover
We engrave velour only. On leatherette we mount an acrylic or metal plate, a photo inset or colour print, all of it available in the editor at the finishing step. If engraving is what you want, look at the velour photo book.
How many colours are available
Twenty-five active colours, the widest palette of the three premium materials. Velour has fifteen and fabric has eight.
Will the cover survive frequent handling
That is exactly its strength. The surface does not absorb moisture, fingerprints wipe away, and the 2 mm board holds its shape even in the large 30×30 cm format.
How is it different from a printed cover
On a printed cover the photograph is printed onto the board itself, so the book opens with an image. Here the cover is a single colour and the whole accent stays on the spreads inside.
